Objective –The goal of Quill is to spotlight emerging contemporary writers by providing a thoughtfully designed platform that amplifies their voices and showcases their work with innovative, engaging typography and visuals
The aim is to celebrate the creativity of emerging writers, pairing their work with experimental design elements that challenge conventional magazine aesthetics and engage readers in fresh, unexpected ways
Quill embraces a disruptive approach to literary magazines, using stark black-and-white visuals and bold, experimental typography to challenge traditional design norms. By stripping away color, the focus shifts entirely to the raw, unfiltered power of the writers’ voices and the radical energy of contemporary storytelling
Visual Design System
The typography in Quill combines sharp, geometric sans-serifs with experimental custom type treatments, pushing the boundaries of readability to create intrigue and provoke thought. The design prioritizes disruption through bold asymmetry, unconventional grid structures, and layered elements that add depth and texture. A strict black-and-white color palette eliminates distraction, emphasizing contrast, clarity, and the raw essence of the content, while also allowing the typography and layout to take center stage.
